Lacrosse Helmets

Men’s lacrosse is a rough sport and lacrosse helmets are required for all players. Helmets are the best means of protecting your head from injuries caused by falls or hits from balls, sticks, or other players.

Helmet Construction

Brine Triumph

Lax helmets have protruding chin and jaw areas for protecting the lower part of your head and preventing jaw and dental injuries. The chin and the jaw usually absorb the most impact when falling face first. Helmets have a face mask or a grill on the front. This protects the face from oncoming balls or sticks without reducing field of vision.

Lax helmets are made from strong materials such as steel, titanium, and chrome. Titanium is lighter and more durable than steel, and is usually the material of choice for goalies. Chrome helmets are heavier than titanium, but lighter than steel. They are less durable and tend to chip or dent more easily.

NOCSAE is a standard for helmets. The helmet must have the NOCSAE logo to show it meets the requirements.

How to Buy a Lacrosse Helmet

Cascade Pro7

For maximum protection, the helmet must be sized properly. To determine your helmet fits right, consider this . . .

* Helmets should sit squarely on your head with the front low on the brow to protect your forehead.

* The padding should put firm, uniform pressure all around your head so that the skin on the forehead moves when the helmet moves from left to right and from front to back. There should be no slack when the chin-strap is fastened.
